Safety and Practical Information about Kayakomaten Sunnanå Harbor Mellerud
Launching and Facilities:
- Launch from the dock, 5 meters from Kayakomaten.
- Free parking.
- Toilets are available in the service building.
Safety:
- Check the weather forecast carefully. Vänern can have rapidly changing weather.
- Paddle near the shore and in sheltered waters. Adjust your paddling according to wind strength, wind direction, and boat traffic.
- Always wear a life jacket.
- Use the spray skirt (located in the kayak). Fasten it high over the waist and ensure it fits tightly around the cockpit rim.
- Bring a mobile phone for emergencies and inform close contacts of any delays.
- Bring enough water and energy-rich food.
- Paddle together with others for extra safety and camaraderie.
- Plan your route in advance and inform someone of your plans and expected return time. Notify them of any delays.
- Pack all your gear in waterproof bags that float in case of capsizing.
- Avoid boat traffic lanes.
- Bring a change of clothes.
Group Activities:
Kayaking or SUP is a great activity for groups, whether it's for colleagues, family, or other occasions.

On the day of your booking, you will receive a code via email and SMS. Arrive at your KAYAKOMAT and unlock your gear. Inside you’ll find everything you need: PFD, paddles and sprayskirts. If it’s your first time out on the water, make sure you double check our safety tips.
TIME TO PADDLE!
Now you’re ready to go! Enjoy your time out on the water, and be sure to tag us @kayakomat on social media. When your rental time is finished, return your equipment, check that everything is clean and lock it back up.
